Tax on Petrol.....Government Bonus ?

by wisty8golf @ 2008-06-05 - 10:30:41

How come the Government stubbornly refuses to remove the planned 2p tax hike on petrol, planned for October, when they have had an unplanned bonus of 5p a litre due to the massive inflation in petrol prices since the beginning of the year.
This motorist in the UK pays more for his petrol that almost anyone else in the world. PM Brown is confirming how little he thinks of Mr Joe Public by continuing to ignore the general concensus of opinion.
When is the last time, he or any of his Cabinet opened their wallets to buy petrol ? There is a fair chance that it was sold by the gallon then, rather than by the litre.

Do you really not know the answer?

Fuel is still too cheap anyway - we aren't paying the full environmental cost of it.
