When God created politicians he missed out one essential ingredient..........Brains.
One of the worst blights on most High Streets is the sight of drunken teenagers, abusing bypassers and vomiting everywhere. It is the era of the binge drinker.
So what is the Government's solution ?
1) extend licencing hours.
What is the likely scenario. Can you imagine the conversation between to teenagers out on the town.
(Teenager 1)" Want another f***ing drink Charlie ?
(Teenager 2)" Whats the rush, old chap. Now that the Government has extended drinking hours we can pace ourselves and therefore not get drunk"
I dont think so.
2) increase the tax by 4p on beer etc.
Likely scenario. Same two teenagers.
(Teenager 1) "Want another f***ing drink Charlie?
(Teenager 2) "No thanks old chap. Don't you know that tax has just increased on alcopops. We really should cut back. If we have four less pints we will save 20p
and feel much better in the morning.
(Teenager 1) Spiffing idea old chap. Lets make our way home in a orderly fashion.
I dont think so.
The inmates have got the keys.
However I think I have done God an injustice.
He did give politicians a scrap of brain, just enough to be able to fiddle their expenses.
